Veris VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer |
|
|
The Veris VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer is the first commercially available system for collecting geo-referenced visible and near-infrared soil spectra on-the-go. VIS-NIR spectral measurements correlate with organic matter, carbon, pH buffer capacity, and soil moisture-and relate on a field-specific basis to other properties such as soil pH and phosphorous. At the heart of the system are two spectrometers, which combine to cover a 450-2200 nm range, collecting 20 spectra/second with a resolution of 8 nm. User-friendly software simplifies the VIS-NIR data collection process, and helps insure data-quality. |

The fluted coulter, shank, and parallel link design of the ground-engaging module assures a smooth, firm furrow at a consistent depth—adjustable from 1.5 to 4 inches (38 to 102 mm). Reflectance measurements are acquired through a sapphire window on the bottom of the shoe gliding along this slot. |

The Veris Spectrophotometer is part of the Veris Mobile Sensor Platform, which includes an optional soil electrical conductivity (EC) module. The complete package is ideal for characterizing soils, and for conducting soil NIR spectroscopy research. |

Veris Mobile Sensor Platform (MSP).
On-the-go
sensing of soil pH and soil electrical conductivity (EC) are here!
The Veris Mobile Sensor Platform features the Soil pH Manager--an
on-the-go automated pH sensing system that shows pH variability
as it really is. The MSP produces between 5 and 10 pH samples per
acre. That's up to 25 times as many sample points as a 2.5 acre
grid map. Research has documented the fact that pH typically varies
more than what 2.5 acre grids can capture. Until now it hasn't been
feasible to sample densely enough to map pH accurately.
When
2.5 acre grids are overlaid
on a Veris pH Manager map, the
variability within each grid is evident.
Most grids have as much variability
within them as there is in the entire field!
The
Veris MSP can be equipped with both the Veris EC Surveyor 3150
and the Soil pH Manager. Collect soil EC data for management zones
and yield goals at the same time as you map soil pH. Or, get the
MSP with just the EC Surveyor and add the pH Manager later. If you
already own a Veris
EC System, all you need is the MSP with the pH Manager module. The
MSP
can be configured asa a 3-Point mounted model, or as a pull-type.
The EC coulter-electrodes on the XA model can be adjusted to fit
down 30" row
crops--extending your mapping window into the early growing season.

Veris Soil
EC Mapping Systems.
Veris
Soil EC Mapping Systems
use GPS and the proven technology of soil electrical conductivity
(EC) to identify areas of contrasting soil properties. In non-saline
soils, EC values are measurements of soil texture—relative amounts
of sand, silt, and clay.
Soil texture is directly
related to both water-holding capacity and cation-exchange capacity--key
ingredients of productivity. Here’s how it works: as the Veris
EC cart is pulled through the field, one pair of coulter-electrodes
injects a known voltage into the soil, while the other coulter-electrodes
measure the drop in that voltage. Smaller soil grains such as clay
conduct more current than larger grains such as silt and sand.

The conductivity is
recorded along with the GPS coordinates on the Veris EC instrument and
easily down-loads in a format compatible with mapping and spreadsheet
software.
The Veris 3100 uses two EC
arrays to map 0-1’(30 cm) and 0-3’ (91 cm) soil depths simultaneously.
The Veris 2000 uses a
single array that is adjustable from 0-2’ (61 cm) up to 0-3’ (91 cm),
allowing multiple depth EC mapping with a second pass.

Variable
Rate Drives.
An EC map gains value when it becomes the basis for variable rate
inputs. Veris VR Drives are available in both mechanical ground
drive and in hydraulic versions. From EC map to
VR recipe and VR drive...Veris Technologies offers a complete system.
Veris
Precision Rate Controllers offer the finest variable
rate technology. Their high-resolution encoders provide smooth
and accurate operation at a wide range of rates, including low speeds
and low rates without pulsing. These drives are able to operate
in a full range of seeding needs without sprocket changes.
